Service at the Michelin-starred restaurant was hard to access. we couldn't get a reservation during our entire stay for a hotel of this caliber.

The breakfast outdoors was a real treat—all cooked to order or buffet-style with lovely views! And let’s not forget the infinity pool that was never busy—perfect for lounging under the sun after trying the local grubs nearby like Casa Madeirense and Hole in One.

Only bummer? No English TV at all! Managed to watch Prime Video on my phone, but it was a bit of a hassle. Still, that little hiccup didn’t dim the shine of a fabulous stay.

Staying at Portobay in Funchal was memorable. The Duplex Suite was spacious and decorated with a modern touch, which exceeded my expectations. The views from the room were stunning, especially at sunset. The infinity pool provided a relaxing retreat with incredible vistas. Breakfast offered a delicious selection, but I wish the hot food variety was broader. Noticed some ants in the breakfast room, which affected the dining experience. Service was friendly, yet I encountered some slow responses during busy meal times. the atmosphere was peaceful, and the surroundings allowed for a strong connection to nature.

What a braw stay! The views from our Duplex Suite were pure stunning, and the infinity pool was a cracker. Only downside was wishing for a feather pillow, but that’s just bein' picky! Definitely keen to come back soon!

The clear, temperate sea was perfect for a refreshing dip from the hotel's pontoon, where I enjoyed some chill time with my kids while soaking up the sun. The spacious suite easily accommodated our family, making our stay feel comfortable and relaxed.

Our suite with garden access offered a spacious and comfortable layout. The breakfast views from the restaurant were nothing short of breathtaking , enhancing our dining experience. The staff's attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our stay, making it feel truly luxurious.

We got a free upgrade to a Duplex Suite, and the space was enormous! Had an incredible shower experience, not your run-of-the-mill hotel nonsense. The staff were quick to help us and brought us wine as we relaxed by the infinity pool.

It wasn’t exactly budget-friendly, but you get what you pay for.

Stunning views and comfy stay

The views from our Junior Suite were simply incredible. We loved chilling by the sea pool and taking in the fresh ocean air. The breakfast room has huge windows, and the food was delish! Only bummer was the whole place being a tad pricey. But with the comfy beds and great staff, we totally felt pampered.
